KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tiridates II (?), circa 217-252. Half Unit (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.00 g, 12 h). Bearded head of Tiridates II to left, wearing three-pointed tiara tied with a diadem; all within laurel wreath. Rev. Crude Aramaic legend in two lines. Kovacs 205. Extremely rare and in exceptional condition for the issue, very likely the finest known example. Extremely fine.

From an important Swiss collection of Armenian coins, formed since the early 2000s.


The half coins of Tiridates II are exceptionally rare. The two specimens presented here (lot numbers 711-712) are the first ever to be offered to collectors at a public auction.
